Jan spent 6 years in America and Canada, following her husband's career and bringing up her family. She decided to learn to paint. Jan had excellent tuition and exhibited and sold work in many prestigious galleries in America, winning numerous prizes along the way.
The family returned to England and settled in Warwickshire, where Jan set up a studio and opened it up for lessons. She also became fully professional, teaching and selling art at galleries such as the Mall Gallery in London and appearing in Water Colour Challenge on T.V's Channel 4.
Jan is equally comfortable painting in oil, acrylic, water colour , pastel and charcoal. She is renowned for her teaching in South Warwickshire and has managed a stable of over 50 regular students for over 10 years. She gives her students the building blocks and skills ,so that they too can produce beautiful works of art.
In 2010, Jan started to do workshops and demonstrations to art societies across the U.K. She has had many repeat visits to societies that have been delighted with her performance and wanted her to return. Jan also does several day workshops from her studio each year, where she extended her skills to
provide home cooked lunches as part of the bargain!
Jan created a highly successful commercial series of paintings in 2011, called 'Onion Jake', which was launched at the NEC Spring Fair, Birmingham. This series is based on the essence of Britishness, capturing people doing what only the British do best. The paintings are colourful and humorous and can be found on www.onionjake.com.
Whether you want to paint a landscape, seascape, still life or portrait, Jan will hold your hand and help you enjoy and succeed every step of the way.
