Julia Murden BA (Hons), TQFE.
Julia is a trained and experienced designer, artist, illustrator and lecturer who works in a number of different mediums including watercolour, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, ink, pencil, mixed media, computer illustration and graphics.
She specialises in teaching landscapes, animal and human portraiture, still life and modern expressive work . She can also teach crafts such as card design, 3D box and sculpture decoration, decoupage, fabric & glass painting and printing.
Julia is proficient in computer technology on both Mac and PC and can tutor in the use of Mac & PC laptops, iBooks, notepads and iPhones. She provides tutoring in digital photography for mobilephone, and the use of photographic files for social media e.g: twitter, Facebook and web.
Julia graduated in Graphic Design at Northumbria University and has a Teaching Certificate in Further Education from Aberdeen University.
She began her career working in a variety of corporate design studios. This involved creating
promotional, marketing and product design work.
She has also run, and continues to run, her own art and design businesses serving a range of clients, from local authorities and museums to large companies.
After 11 years as a lecturer in art and design in the West of Scotland, she moved to Edinburgh where she has built up a portfolio of art related interests and classes.
These involve tutoring groups and individuals, including children, in art and art & craft techniques.
She also teaches art as a therapy and art and crafts as a family activity.
